Apply For A Place For Your Child
Schools within the Thinking Schools Federation have their placements dealt with by the London Borough of Redbridge Primary School Admissions. Our School Governing Body (The Thinking Schools Federation Governing Body) has no power to decide who gets a place at our schools. This is decided by the LEA (Local Education Authority).
Although Highlands Primary and Uphall Primary both belong to The Thinking Schools Federation, separate applications must be made to The London Borough of Redbridge for each school.
If a place is not available at one of our schools another will not be offered at the other federation school unless it is listed as the next choice on your application which has a vacancy.

Nursery Admissions
Nursery Admissions are decided by each of our schools independently. To find out how our schools process admissions or to make an application for a place please visit the relevant schools website.

Reception Admissions
Applications for entry to Reception in September 2024 at either of our schools, must be submitted by 15th January 2024 at the latest via the Redbridge e-admissions website. Please read Redbridge’s e-admissions guidance for more information on making an application.
Children being admitted to Reception can have their admission deferred beyond the start of term in September, but not beyond the beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday or the academic year in which admission is sought. Parent’s must inform the relevant school if they wish to defer entry.
If the demand for places is greater than what is available, all applications will be considered on an equal basis, within the following categories for each relevant year group.
- Looked after children – children in the care of the Local Authority
- Children of school staff – up to one per form of entry
- Children with brothers or sisters in the main school in Reception to Year 6
- Children living nearest to the school- measured by the shortest walking distance.
School places are offered in line with the Redbridge Admissions Policy.
The below document gives full details of Redbridge admissions criteria.
To apply for a place at one of our member schools please visit Redbridge’s e-admissions page.
Admissions for pupils with SEND
Pupils with SEND are admitted to our schools on the same basis as any other child. The Governing Body uses the LEA admissions criteria. In the case of Physical Disability then the LEA Admissions department must liaise with the SENDCO of the relevant school to determine the suitability of the school of choice in meeting their needs.
Admissions During the School Year
If you wish to make an application for your child or children to join us at one of our schools after January 15th 2024, you will need to make an in-year application.
You can apply for a school place this way after your child has started their first year.
Reasons for your child changing school include:
- moving to Redbridge from somewhere else
- moving home within Redbridge
- your child needs to go to a different school
Please visit Redbridge – Admissions during the school year for more information.
